office programs will not open files

i have etected and repaired, and reinstalled office and access 2003. i still
get nothing when i try to use access it opens and then will not open any of
my files. word tells me that the files are not available. i've had these
programs on the computer for 4 years without problem. this happened after i
emptied my recycle bin. i have even rebooted from the xp disk looking for
errors. please help, thank you

Try creating a new user (windows) profile.

In XP, browse to C:\Documents and Settings\
Copy the folder for the user up to the root of C:\ then delete the folder
(or delete the user under System Properties (Right-click My
computer->Properties - User Tab)

Log onto the PC as the user, windows will create a new profile. Copy the
favorites/documents/etc. back to the folder from your backup on the C: drive.
