I have Office 2000, Office Basic Edition and Office XP on my computer - can I
remove one of them?

Since you dont mention the specific versions you may find Office 2000
contains components not included in your Office 2002 versions

Well, one of the versions may have additional components not offered in the
other. Pick the one you want to keep.

Thank you Tom. I have now gone through the additional components and I can
see that each one does have some that are not offered in the other two, so I
think I will probably in the end keep them all if I can. Do they ever
conflict with each other and are they taking up a lot of space?

Maybe I should just uninstall the components in 2000 and Basic 2003 that are
shared with XP, or am I treading on dangerous ground? Advice please.
