Office Repeatedly Installs each use

WinXP, Office 2000 Pro. Have fairly new IBM pc and loaded Office 2000 Pro on
it. Every time I access any of the programs, windows installer window
appears and status bar shows install. If need to use Word (or others), it
doesnt go directly to Word. Takes a minute to load program to use. Once in
it, it appears to work fine.

Have loaded all updates...to my knowledge. Is there something else that I
have missed or need to do. I dont have 2003 version, just Office 2000 Pro.
This loading process is very annoying. Otherwise it works fine.

Suggestions, please.

How did you install? Did you make sure to set all programs/all components to
run from your hard drive? Run a reinstall over your existing copy, choose
'custom', and select all items to run from your HD.
