Office Resource Kit Question

Hi,

I have been charged with a task of configuring an Office XP installation
package, a Visio 2007 installation package, and a Micrsoft Project 2000
package. I created an Office XP installation package using the Office 2002
Resource Kit. Do I need to recreate this using the Office 2007 Resource Kit?

I'm thinking that if I want to create all 3 in the same setup then I need to
use a newer Resource Kit.

Thanks in Advance,
JeffH

Hi Jeff,

I'm not entirely clear on your overall goals and scenario.

You can access each of the Office Resource Kits through http://microsoft.com/office/ork

Office 2007 has the customization tools built into Setup.exe, provided you have a volume license key/version of the product.

Sorry I was not all that clear. I guess that my question would be Can I
create an installation package of Office XP by using the Office Resource Kit
for Office 2007?

Thanks again,
JeffH

Hi Jeff,

Probably not :) MS Office 2007 uses windows Patch files (.MSP) (except when deploying by Group Policy), and Office 2000, Office
XP/2002 and Office 2003/2006 used the Custom Installation Wizard produced MS Transform (MST) customization files for installation.

There are folks who use scripting or MS SMS or other 3rd party tools to deploy and bypass the MS tools.
