Office Security Update Fails

Neil P

Hi

I have been trying unsuccessfully for the last couple of
weeks to install the following Office update patches
under win 98 SR1:

Office 2000 Security Patch KB822035
Word Security Patch: KB824936
Office 2000 WordPerfect 5.x Converter Security Patch:
KB824993 (English Version)
Access 2002 Snapshot Viewer Security Patch: KB826292

The patches download, commence to instal, then fail with
the Web Page Dialog Box stating "Installation
Unsuccessful". All previous service packs etc. have
installed without problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem, stumbled across this link: http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/xp/journ/o2k0901a.htm

Downloaded the update into a dummy directory (I opened the update and it asked for a folder). Then I went to that directory and ran the VBE6ff.msp file. Seemed to work then.

Warning - I'm a complete amateur, use at your own risk! :)

Installing the Office security patch from the link, followed by the
remaining 3 patches worked fine.

Thanks for your assistance.

Regards.
