Office Service Pack 3 Install Failure Error 0x530

Tried 5 times today to install the service pack 3. and am getting the code
error 0x530 which seemed to be a problem in the SP 2 install (had no problems
with that - and SP2 is installed).

Can anyone point me to a resolution please? All information I can find
seems to refer to SP2 not SP3

The SP3 downloads, installs half way and then askes for my office disc. It
reads the PROPLUS file on the disk and then shoots through the rest of the
install simply saying "failed"

thanks

I'm on XP so according to the link you sent "Microsoft Windows 2000 Service
Pack 3 and Microsoft Windows XP include this version of the Windows
Installer. " And I have checked and this IS installed.

I have read through the information and have tried the 3 types of installation

Express install - (used the CD)
Custom Install using the CD
Custom Install using the Office XP SP3 Full File Version link.

All 3 gave me the same error code as reported initially
"Updates were unable to be successfully installed... The following updates
were not installed Offfice XP Service Pace 3"

I am going to the Administrative page and downloading the file from there to
try... but any suggestions on what I can try next if this doesnt work?

Cheers

Check point -
Click Start, select Run, type: services.msc
click OK
Is the Office Source Engine service set to “Manual†in the “Startup Type
Also, is the Windows Installer Service is set to “Manual†in the “Startup Type.
If not, set them to Manual and try Windows Update again.
If they set to Manual, then perhaps look at repairing/reinstalling Office 2003.

You may need to download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to assist
you in cleaning up after Office 2003 and any other redundant office programs.

Hi - sorry I've not replied for a while - been away.

Have checked and I dont appear to have the Office Source Engine listed in
the services section... so I looked and I dont have ose.exe on my C: drive,
not do I have it listed in the Services tab of the msconfig.... could this be
my problem? and if so I do I resolve it please? (Did a search in the
knowledge base but I must be putting in the wrong keywords because nothing
came up)

I have also downloaded and installed the Windows installer cleanup facility
and its basically telling me that just about everything on my system will
need to be re-installed :( - is this usual? I was wondering if it may be
quicker to backup and do a format and start again?

I'd just like to say thanks for your time in posting - I appreciate it!

You receive an "Error 80070643" error message when you try to update Office 2003 by
using Software Update Services
Method 1: Determine the status of the Office Source Engine service
Method 2: Repair the Ose.exe file
Method 3: Remove and then reinstall Office 2003
