Did you select Office XP, then add components, then navigate to the Office
tools part of the installation tree?

Hi again and thanks for your patience with me.

I go to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programmes. I select Office XP, but when
I then select Add/Remove components from the left hand side of the screen,
all I get is a tree for Windows XP components. There is no tree for Office.

Thanks

Hi Tommo,

You can restore the Office Shortcut Bar via Add/Remove Programs in the
Control Panel.

1. Scroll down the list of programs to the entry for Microsoft Office XP
and select it. Click the "Change" Button

2. When the Office Setup screen appears, select the first Option -- "Add
or Remove Features

3. When you click "Next", you should see a tree with all the components and
the last one is "Office Tools". Expand that group and you'll see the Office
Shortcut Bar listed.

4. Set the Office Shortcut Bar to "Run from "My Computer" then click
Update.

There are some other free substitutes for the Office Shortcut Bar that are
more uptodate and look better on Windows XP. I use the JetToolBar
(http://www.cowonamerica.com/products/jettoolbar) on some machines and the
ObjectDock (http://www.objectdock.com) on others.
