When I use Office in a dual-monitor setup, drag a Word document window to the
second monitor, save and close, Office saves the last position of the window.
However, when I take my laptop home and don't have a dual-monitor setup, open
that Word document, I can't see it! Why? Office placed it outside my viewable
area on a second screen that doesn't exist. However, if the Word document is
open when I switch to single-monitor mode, then it will reposition and then I
can close it, saving the position in the right place. In my opinion, however,
when Office is placing the window when opening a document, it should CHECK TO
MAKE SURE THE WINDOW POSITION WILL BE WITHIN THE CURRENT VIEWABLE AREA. When
it comes up off-screen, there is no way to retrieve it unless I connect to a
second monitor, enable it, and drag the Word document to my main screen.
Sure, I could manually drag the window to my main screen before closing the
document...but should I have to?
