Office Standard 2007 install - getting rid of old Word

I am trying to install Office Standard 2007 from a CD. I get no progress on
teh installation bar, and the "encountered an error during setup" alert. It
appears that Word won't unistall. i have tried all of the recommneded
solutions of disabling anti-virus, lookinf for various files to delete, using
the remove function on control panel. nothiung seems to be helping. How do
I get rid of the old Word program finally and completely?!?

Old Word program is which version and when it was installed from where it was installed.

With the complete Office suite
Word Sand alone

and etc etc etc
