Office toolbar icons ugly in WinXP

I installed Office 2000 pro on my computer that has Win XP Home. I set up the
toolbar with the programs I use most often. The buttons for the office
programs look fine, but the buttons for other programs, such as Windows
Explorer, Notepad, and Photoshop look awful. These buttons looked fine when
installed on Win98SE. Does anyone know what causes this and how I can fix it?
