I recently freshly installed Windows 7 (custom install on a formatted
partition). Now I am trying to install Office Ultimate 2007, and the
installer is failing with the following error: "Microsoft Office Ultimate
2007 encountered an error during setup." with a Close button.
More details: I obtained Office through Microsoft's Ultimate Steal site,
which delivers Office as a single 500 MB file called X12-30307.exe. When I
run the .exe, it performs self-exctraction, asks for the product key, and
then presents two buttons: Install Now and Customize. I choose Install Now. A
progress bar appears as the installer begins installing. When the progress
bar reaches approximately 2/3 done, the error message mentioned above
appears. Argh!
