Office update site already exists in another zone

I am working through the suggestions at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304498 because I also
have a problem with the "Office updates is unable to check for updates" issue.

So far none of the suggestions have helped, but I have a few to go. However,
on Method 6 (Add http://office.microsoft.com to your Trusted sites list in
Internet Explorer so that the Office Update ActiveX control can load
successfully), I get the message that "The site you specified already exists
in another zone. Please remove the site from that zone before adding it to
the current zone."
I cannot find the office.microsoft.com site in any other one.
Can anyone help on what is happening here?
Thanks
TRE.

Hi;

When you add a site to the Trusted Sites list, it is normally added to
the Registry in the Current User section. If sites have been added via
a customized installation of IE (via the IE AK or similar done by your
OEM or LAN policies) then it may be in the Local Machine section.

Suggest you check this area in your Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\ZoneMap\Domains

Most likely the Office site you want is already listed there. If you
want, you can remove that site from the HKLM section. Then you should
be able to add the site via the normal IE Security section interface and
it will appear in the similar section under Current User.

Normal precautions and warnings apply when editing the Registry.
