How can I run a check to see what updates my Office XP software could use? And then install the software updates that are recommended?

For Office XP you can access updates at:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx or at Microsoft
Update. As with Windows Update, your computer will be scanned and you will
be provided a list of applicable updates.

Start a piece of software (e.g. word)

Go to the Help menu and choose "check for updates"

or visit this site
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/officeupdate/default.aspx

and click "check for updates"
