Office will not install for new user - need to manually remove Off

J

Jhurault

-Someone deleted the orginal user that Office was installed with. Office does
not appear on the program menu or the "add remove progarms" utility, but the
executables are in the Office file directories. Attempting to start an
office program directly from the office directory give message "Word is not
installed for this user. Reinstall for the current user"

When I try to install Office, get "runtime error! Program
C:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe" and "The exception unknown software
exception (0x40000015) occured in the application at location 0x7813461a"

I think the best course of action is to completely remove Office then
reinstall. Add/Remove programs does not see the program and Setup generates
the above runtime error.

What registry keys and file folders/files do I have to delete to completely
remove Office?

Need to know what Windows (XP or 2000), what Office version.
Check and see if you have Windows Installer Cleanup Utility tool. If so,
run it and see if MS Office shows up.
If so, Remove it and try and rerun Setup.

Are you runing setup from the installation CD or the installation folder
under Program Files\....?
