Office won't let me insert pics from file

Andie

Up until today, I've enjoyed the ease of inserting pics from files into any
office product. For some reason, today it's choosing to not be my firend.
When I go to Insert>Picture>From File it just freezes. I've sent countless
error reports to microsoft in hopes that I could figure this one out on my
own, but I've hit a brick wall. I rebooted by computer, ran office updates
and rebooted again, all to no avail. Any help would be appreciated -- I
really don't want to have to reinstall Office if at all possible.

Thanks!

Turn the acceleration down on your adapter, control panel, display folder,
settings tab, advanced button, troubleshoot tab.
If this solves your issue you are in need of an updated graphics/video driver.
Go to the manufacturer's web site of your graphics card and look around for an
upgrade.

I had the same problem, if you have install the latest security update this
is the problem. uninstall them and it should work fine. if you read a few of
the entries I think the people here have it narrowed down to which one. I was
in desperate need so I just uninstalled all the ones from about 11 apr to
date and the problem is fixed. I'l wait for microsoft to get their act
together befroe I reinstall them. as a side note think of the consequences of
an automatic update that removes "Office" functionality. think about how far
reaching this problem could be.

Thanks! I think this may be my problem. Where do I go to uninstall my
security updates?

I got it! It wasn't too hard once I realized there's a nice "show updates"
box in add/remove programs. Deleted those bad boys, restarted my computer
and she's up and running as good as ever! I made sure to turn off those
automatic updates and opted for just being reminded that I have updates, then
I can investigate before turning my computer over to the beasts :)

Thanks again smooth_joey!
