it won't let me type - please help

I have Office 2003. Everything seems to work but for some reason I can't
type. I can type in Outlook, Word, etc. Everytime I try to type - and I use
text boxes of course - whether in an existing text box to edit something or a
new text box it just says "Publisher cannot complete the operation." It says
that when I try to create a text box too, although it creates it anyway. I
can insert pictures, word art, and do a bunch of other things, just not type.
I couldn't find any information on the help page - anyone know what I can
do? I already tried reinstalling Office but that didn't seem to work. I'm in
the middle of a report and I'm totally stuck...
Thank you.

Was this file created on a different computer?
In Publisher 2003, you cannot change a publication that was created on a
different computer if the publication contains embedded preview-only fonts
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908025/en-us

You cannot type at all or is the type taking along time to appear?

Turn off the background spelling and grammar checker
When you type a space or press ENTER, the background spelling and grammar
checker examines what you typed. The spelling checker flags misspelled words by
using a red wavy underline. The grammar checker flags grammatical errors by
using a green wavy underline. If the spelling files or grammar files are
damaged, you may receive an error message when you type.

Have you checked for viruses?

Empty your temp folder
1. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet files.
4. Click to select the Delete all offline content check box, and then click OK.
5. Under History, click Clear History, and then click Yes when you are prompted
for confirmation.

1. Click Start, click Run, type %temp%, and then click OK.
2. Delete the contents of this folder. If any of the items are important and
should not be deleted, move the items to another folder.

Hi Mary,

Thank you so much for responding to my post.

The file was created on this computer but I've reinstalled several versions
of microsoft since then until finally going back to the original microsoft
office 2003.

I not only can't write but I can't edit text - not on this file or even a
new file (ok i can't type to actually edit the text on the new file). I can
insert photos and delete photos and even text boxes and such. Everytime I try
to type - and I use text boxes of course - whether in an existing text box to
edit something or a new text box it just says "Publisher cannot complete the
operation." It says that when I try to create a text box too, although it
creates it anyway.

It's not the font issues - none of them are "preview" ones.

It may be a virus issue but I'm always good about deleting my cookies, and
cache and offline content (which I just did again). When I tried to do run:
%temp% i got this message "d:\ is not accessible: The disk structure is
corrupted and unreadable." I've also noted when starting up the computer the
last few weeks that there is some notice about checking and scanning the d
drive. The thing is that I don't use the d drive. My program files are all
on the C drive. My files are all on the E drive. When I tried to open the d
drive on my computer it gave me the same message.

Any ideas?

Thank you so much...

Your temporary files are supposed to be being stored in the D: drive,
but the D: drive is failing (or failed). Repair or replace your D:
drive, and/or move your temp folder to a different drive.
