Office won't verify, won't uninstall, remains in reduced function

Hi All!

I opened Excel today only to get a box that says that I need to re-verify my
copy of Office XP Student and Teacher Edition. It instructs me to insert the
original disk (which I did), then pops up a box that says "Preparing to
install...". About 2-5 minutes later both boxes disappear and Excel remains
in reduced functionality mode.

When I went to Add/Remove Programs to uninstall, Office won't uninstall
either. Likewise, I can't re-install over it since I have various patches and
service packs installed that aren't on the original disk.

A search of this forum found a nearly identical question that was asked
about 2 years ago and the problem was resolved by downloading and running the
Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. However, that utility now appears to no
longer be available.

Anyone have any ideas?
