Office X and Snow Leopard

Snowed_Under

Version: v.X Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.2 (this past week and Software Update installed 10.6.2 yesterday morning) and am experiencing compatibility issues with my Office X for Mac. Essentially, I cannot print to my Epson CX4800 printer from any Microsoft suite program. After reinstalling the drivers 8 times, Epson has declared the problem to be a MacOS problem. Apple has declared the problem to be a Microsoft problem (but I could partition my hard drive and run Leopard on part of it to use my Office Suite). Is there an update for my Office that will be compatible with Snow Leopard? PLEASE, I really need help here.

That version of Office has not been supported for more than 2 years. The
most recent (and last) update was 10.1.9, so if that's what you have that's
the end of the line. If you aren't at that level you can still obtain the
update from the Microsoft site.

Just to be safe, reinstalling the printer driver does no good unless it is
the _latest_ one, which of course must be compatible as well. Have you tried
repairing disk permissions? That 'might' make a difference.

It's also quite common for developers to play the blame game. I have no idea
what's at fault, but it seems odd that Apple says the same software & same
driver will work in Leopard but not in Snow Leopard, then declares it to be
a Microsoft problem :)

I would like to install this version on my main computer which runs the
latest version of snow leopard as above. I have hesitated because when I
upgraded from leopard to snowleopard some adobe programs (creative
suite) will no longer run without being upgraded. So I have (3)
questions.

Will Office X S&T even install on snow leopard?

Yes, Be sure to validate fonts and remove almost all of the Office X fonts.

Microsoft fonts to delete after installing Snow Leopard (includes help
deleting font caches)

If so, can it
even be updated (because it is a Student & Teacher edition)?

You can update any application for free, but you can't upgrade without
purchasing.

An update takes you from 10.0 to 10.1.9
An upgrade would be to install either Office 2004 or Office 2008.

If you don't need Exchange you can get Office 2008 very reasonably from
Amazon with free shipping. $109.99 (price can vary slightly)

If it can
be updated did that fix snowed under's problem?

don't understand this question as I don't see previous posts.
