OFFICE X CAN'T FIND TEMPLATES ON WINDOWS SERVER

Running a hybrid group of PCs and MACs on an IBM server running Windows
Server. Was hopeful of being able to mount common templates in a server
directory accessible to all users. But MACs (running Office X) won't
find them. Am setting template locations - both personal and workgroup
- to server location from Preferences menu.

Any reason why this can't happen? Or how it can? I'm all ears if
anyone has a solution.
