Office X (error 4359) with Entourage X

I am getting an error now with Entourage. When I create a new email, I get an error message "The action could not be completed. An unknown error (4359) occurred. At this point I can not enter an email address to send the email to. The problem also occurs when I try to forward a message (I can not enter an email address) It appears that no support is available for Office X anymore, as the oldest posts I have seen are for Office 2001. The posts I have seen say that it has something to do with my preferences file, but Office X must have had it in a different location than Office 2001. (1) Can someone here help me clear up this problem? I want to Get Office 2008, and be able to import any pertinent info from Office X without bringing in problems. I am running Entourage X 10.1.1 on a 17" PowerBook G4 with MAC OS 10.4.11

Actually Office 2001 is older than Office X.

Support for Entourage X ended January 9, 2007

Support for Entourage 2001 ended December 31, 2005

The posts I have seen say

These instructions for Office 2001, and it looks like it is for OS9 because the files sequence for OSX does not match. This is what confused me in the first place when searching for the answer to my problem, because this post was one that I had already found.

So, are you saying that I probably will not have a problem importing to Entourage 2008? I did in fact purchase Office 2008, but in reading posts here, I see some others have had problems importing form Entourage X into 2008. I probably will manually export everything I can out of X and import it into 2008.

I did already do a rebuild of my Entourage database to no avail, so that part of the post that you sent has been done already.

Entourage X and 2004:

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Entourage Preferences

should I trash each preference file in turn and then Open Entourage to make the new pref file, or are there some that I should not even touch?

I need to update that one. I do the entire site by myself so finding time to
update over 300 pages and answer questions here is a full time job. Now if I
could find out how to get paid for this work.

This is probably a new file. Seems it wasn't used in Classic.

You can delete them all without problems. You would just have to reset your
preferences. The real important ones like your CD key are invisible.

Hi Diane,

I know you are probably busy answering other important emails, but I wanted to get back with you with my results. With all the information provided I was not able to repair Entourage X to operate correctly again, but I did an install of Office 2008 and it looks like everything imported OK, and is working without a problem. So i guess you could say that the problem is solved, just not the way i was hoping
