Office XP config and installer issues

Each time I open an office application, word, outlook, etc or a ne
instance of Internet explorer, windows installer starts and than i
tells me it is configuring office XP. This happens every single time.
I ran installer cleanup, have deleted all temp files, I can not get i
to stop. What is going on? It has installed and configured Office X
at least 100 times in the past two days.

This is Office 2002 Professional with all updates applied, plus XP wit
all updates applied. Nothing else changed on the PC. I should add thi
is not a new install, it ran fine for several years

Hi TJ.,

Are there any other Microsoft Office family products/versions listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel?

If you run a Repair/Reinstall of Office XP from the Control panel does it complete successfully and have you restarted the PC after
that?

Are you logged in as Administrator?

This looks strange. There are one series of entries that say Microsof
Office XP with the usual series of updates and products, and than
second set of entries that is identical with the same dates and update
but listed as Microsoft Office XP with Frontpage. Other than that
there are just the usual other MS products listed.

I have run detect and repair several times. I have rebooted too man
times. I have performed a reinstall with the repair option. I hav
performed a registry clean-up numerous times. Why does this happe
with Internet Explorer, I could almost suffer through it if it onl
happened with Office

Hi T.J.,

If you check in add remove programs in the Windows control panel what are the Microsoft Office XP and 2002 series products listed?

If more than one version of MS Office XP that can be a bit of a problem.

WHy would there be more than one, I only installed it once. Do I delet
one of them? It has been on so long, I have no idea what the seria
number is if I have to reinstall it. I have the disks, but have lon
lost the serial number and don't feel like paying 180 dollars for a ne
version
