Office XP: I press "c" and get "x", etc

the keyboard (internal or external) on this laptop is
REALLY weird since i uninstalled office 2K and put on XP.

typing abcdefghijk produces something like ax.jiqps...
(not exactly, but definitely OFF)

I've done all the office updates.

I've started in safe mode (same prob)

scanning now for viruses....

works FINE w/ notepad - it's only word, excel, etc...

???

Have you checked your "autocorrect" entries? You can check this via Tools -
AutoCorrect Options.

autocorrect.

Check to see if the keyboard language setting has
changed through either the blue square icon in the
taskbar or through Text Services/Keyboard settings
in the Windows Control panel.

Yes, I looked at autocorrect and did NOT see anything
weird... in the meantime I've just reinstalled office 2K
and that solved the problem...
