Office XP install source path

Hi there MSO boffins ...

Where [if anywhere] does Office XP record it's original installation path?
Is it a registry key [if so, which one, I've Googled my fingers off and
found inconsistent answers] or perhaps it's buried inside an MSI file in
c:\windows\installer?
