Which Office program is newer..Office XP or Office 2003? I can purchase a
computer with either--is one better than another?

2003 is the most recent version. I'd probably go for it, assuming that the
versions you're being offered (Small Business Edition, Student/Teacher,
Professional, etc.) are comparable.
