Office XP Pro Installation over Office XP (Student Edition)

I have both a desktop and portable with XP and Office XP
and have been having problems with Excel on the Portable.
Specifically, when I try to launch Excel it defaults to a
Windows installer dialog box and then asks for the
Student CD. I'm confused because Office XP was installed
about 18 months ago and I have never had this problem
before. My son did take the portable to class, so perhaps
one of the students messed with the inco. In any event, I
cannot find the Office Student cd and would like to
install Office XP Pro upgrade over this installation.
However, it won't let me do it since it cannot find a
qualifying product. Any suggestions?

Hi, Mike,

Office XP cannot be a qualifying product for Office XP for upgrade
installation (this is referred to as a cross-grade, and Microsoft doesn't
support any in Office.)
