run Office Home & Student 2003 & 2007 on same PC

Desktop running on XP Pro. Can one have both Office Home & Student 2003 and
2007 installed on the same PC at the same time. Reason being is Student
edition 2007 does not have Outlook (which is needed). I installed 2007 and
kept all previous versions but when Outlook opens, I get message "Please wait
while Windows configures Microsdoft Office Home & Student 2007" (which takes
ages) followed by "The configuration changes made to MS Office Home & Student
2007 will not take effect until your computer has been restarted. Would you
like to restart now?" I have restarted and gone through the process a number
of times. I also tried upgrading Word, Excel & PowerPoint i.e. keeping just
Outlook 03 - same result.

Any advice how I can keep Outlook 2003 working successfully with Office Home
& Student 2007 (Word 07, Excel 07 and PowerPoint 07).

Many thanks

You can have more than one version of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
installed on the same PC, but you cannot have more than one
version of Outlook installed on the same PC. You can modify the
Windows registry as described in
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=928091 "Information about
using 2007 Office suites and programs on a computer that is
running another version of Office" to stop the reconfiguring process.

Tks so much. I was aware of not being able to have more than one versions of
Outlook - but Student Edition 2003 has Outlook - 2007 does not - so I was
quite surprised when 2007 kept on wanting to configure the moment Outlook was
open or worked in. I will certainly go to the website you suggest - rather
nervous to work in the registry as I am only A+ qualified and registry was
not part of our training. Really appreciate your reply.

Thanks so much. This was just fantastic! the instructions were simple and
clear. We do software training so have to have more then one Office version
on all our PCs. I am more delgihted with your advice than I can tell. Will do
the same on clients PC and see if that solves Outlook 2003 causing Office
2007 Tudent Edition to to configure all the time.
