OFFICE XP PRO Product ID

I have 2 sets of Office xp pro discs (1 set came with my
Dell Notebook and the 2nd i bought myself.)i want to
install office xp pro onto a new machine but it will not
let me use either of the codes that i have.
does this mean that i have to buy Yet another set of
Office XP PRO discs ?? Please help
If yes... that explains were they make all that money
from...

1) The ones that came with the Dell cannot be used on any other system -
Dell discs are distinctive - they will be marked 'Dell'.

2) I don't know what you mean by "won't let me use either of the codes
that I have". The Dell code will have 'OEM' in the installation key (the
Product ID is *NOT* the IK - it is a unique identifier generated from the
installation key) and the retail version, er, won't.

3) What's happening when you attempt to enter the retail key?
Double-check you are entering it correctly - 5s can look like Ss, 1s like
Is, 6s like Gs 0s like Os, 8s like Bs, etc, so triple check. If you still
can't get it to work, call your local MS subsidiary.
