Office XP Pro with Frontpage Update Error

K

K Williams

Every time I attempt to apply the Office XP SP-1, the update gets to the "Configuring Office XP..." Dialog. Then I get this error
Error 1328. Error applying patch to file
C:\Config.Msi\PT???.TMP. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information, contact your patch vendor

The three ? are seamingly random numbers (they change each time). I tried deleting the file that it refers to but the error occoured with a new filename
Could the fact that I have Frontpage 2003 and Office XP with Frontpage be a factor
Thanks for any help

Have now installed Service Pack One (Chears Steve Marshall), but now Service Pack Two will not install
Tried to find an Administrative install for SP-2, but failed. When tring to run the Patch (Downloaded manually) I recieve the same error
Anyone know whether the Fix for SP-1 will work for SP-2, and where I can download an administrative install version
Any help appreciated

Hi, K,

All administrative update installations can be found here:

Office XP Administrative Updates:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2003/admin/xp/default.htm

Usually you can also find links to them in the KB articles describing how to
obtain and apply the patches.

I downloaded the Service Pack and Upgraded the Administrative Setup Point Like for SP-1, will I need to do the same for all of my Office XP Updates?

You're welcome!

Each update may be handled differently for an administrative installation.
You'll want to check the article for how to install and deploy each
one...but I suspect they're pretty much the same.
