Office XP Service Pack 1 Upgrade Problem - *please help*

S

Steven Scott

I get the following error whilst trying to upgrade to
service pack 1:

Error 1328: Error applying patch to file
C:\Config.Msi\PT1B. It has probably been updated by
other means, and can no longer be modified by this
patch. For more information, contact your patch vendor.

It won't let me upgrade to service pack 1, and therefore,
I can't upgrade futher, ie: Service Pack 2, etc...

Here is your solution!

I have used both the SP1 and SP2 workarounds and they
worked like a charm. I hope you'll find them helpful
too. The instructions may look daunting but they are
really easy to follow if you print them out first.

Here is the link to them:

XP SP1:

XP SP2: (assuming you followed the steps in the above
link)

Please feel free to email me back if you have any
questions. I'll do what I can to help!
