Office XP Service Pack 3 for Outlook Problems -- Install Problems

Mary

Hi everyone -- I have gotten part of the way using the knowledge base. Here
were the steps:

ERROR: 'pop3.socrates.thinkhost.com - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B)

1. Went to knowledge base, found that a hotfix was needed.

"This problem is corrected in Office XP Service Pack 3.To resolve this
problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP."

2. Checked my update history and see that I have an update called "Office
2003 Service Pack 2."

3. Checked MS Word's "About" section and it says SP2 next to the name.

4. Downloaded Service Pack 3.

5. Tried to install it and I got the "expected version not present" message.

I'm at a loss. Thanks for any help you can provide.

The installer is correct. You are downloading a service pack for a different
product than you are running; Outlook 2002/XP vs Outlook 2003.

As for your original issue;
If you are running a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook disable this
integration and try again.
