Office XP Setup for Access - ODBC Error 6 - HELP!!!!!!!!!

S

Shirl

Trying to install Access from my Office XP CD, and get Error 1919, Error
configuring ODBC Data Source. MS Access ODBC Error 6: Component Not Found
in Registry. Please HELP ME!!! I am in ODBC H-LL!!! I found a post on
Google that had an attached ZIP file with a .reg file that fixed the problem
for someone. But, google doesn't allow for attachments. I sure wish that
the .reg file was in the post itself, to be copied to notepad and saved as a
..reg file. Anyway, would someone please help with this problem. It seems
that many of my programs, not just the Office XP setup for Access, that use
ODBC are giving me problems now. Someone Please help me.....

Shirl...

I have similar problem. While installing Office 2003 I got error 1919. Did a
search of KB and found 818954 but
Method 1: Install MDAC does not work as that program is not compatable with
Win XP
Method 3 does not work as when you browse I am not able to locate the
desired file ADCJAVAS in the Win XP SP file that was previously downloaded (
I don't have the SP2 CD)
I tried the registry modification but I have 8 different i386 folders so I
don't know which one to use.

I am REALLY disapointed with MS. You pay MS to get "Genuine" MS software and
it doesn't work. Their supposed support does not work.
I wonder why they are surprised when people are not happy about paying $50 a
year for an OS that doesn't work.
