Office XP Setup thinks Win2000 is WinNT4 sp5

I cannot run Office XP setup anylonger.

It immediately reports an error message, saying that
Windows NT4 SP6A or higher is required.

This system has Windows 2000 Pro SP4 (same thing with SP3).
with IE5.5sp2.

Here is a copy of the setup log file:
