Mr. Moonlight
I'm helping a friend update her laptop and am stumped.
I've been told that she did not receive any installation disks with the laptop - Office XP was preinstalled (and activated). Don't know if this was a demo model from CompUSA or if Compaq does not supply Office disks.
I'd like to install SP3 - and obvisouly am stuck, in as much as there are no disks to confirm the installation.
1) Is there some way to obtain the installation key that was used to install the software by searching the registry, etc?
2) Is it possible to purchase replacement disks at a nominal cost?
3) Anyone know what the Compaq policy is regarding delivery of laptops - do they come with installation disks - or is this buried deep within the recovery disk (which I have also not been able to find)...
Yuck!
Thanks -
