Office XP SP3 - now can't access any files

Office XP SP3 loaded successfully but neither word nor excel files will now
load(they are "UNAVAILBLE" or"UNABLE TO READ").
What to do?

Disable the Office Plugin that comes with Symantec/Norton AntiVirus. See
