Office XP SP3

B

BERT-OLOF ISACSSON

When trying to update with Service Pack 3 I get a message to insert the disk
"Office XP standard" .The program I have is "Office XP professional"
(Swedish
Nordic only).

I have inserted the disk "Office XP professional", nothing happens
I also get a message that the file "stdret.msi" can´t be found.

Any ideas??

When Office asks for a CD you don't have, it is finding that information in
the registry just like the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet does.

If you have a mismatch between what's installed and your CD, you may want to
uninstall from your system, re-install from the CD you own, and then apply
the patches.

Do you show more than one version of Office installed on your system, if you
look in the Windows Control Panel?

Would it work to insert a couple of fake registry keys, then, to get the SP3
to install?

I've never tried that, but I'd assume that it uses the registry key data to
decide then what to update, and it would still likely fail at some point.
