Office XP Standard 2002

The original box says I can only install on one computer but lots of others
appear to be able to install on 3 computers. Is Office XP Standard 2002
different?

Yes, it's different.

Office 2007 Home and Student allows you to install on up to 3 computers. I
believe Office 2003 Student and Teacher also allows installation on up to
three computers.

The others are limited to the computer they came installed on (which often
happens if you buy your computer with Office already installed), or they may
allow installation on one desktop and one laptop (not to be used at the same
time).
