After installing the latest Office XP security batch, I
too cannot check for or install Office updates.
The error message states that "Windows Installer patch
files (.MSP) from previously applied Office Updates are
missing from the \Windows\Installer hidden directory."
I received the same error message if I tried to install
manually downloaded updates.
Also, I cannot uninstall or reinstall Office XP because
of the "missing patch file."
Was this problem caused by that new security patch?
Since I expect no help from Microsoft, I would appreciate
any ideas you have to correct this problem.
