office xp validation

I have had my office xp for years and it was activated when it was new. Now
when I tried to validate my office xp, it failed. Doesn't it HAVE to be
genuine Microsoft if it has been activated? How would I have activated it if
it's not valid? Can anyone help me?
Thanks!

This is a DEVELOPER (=programming) group. You're unlikely to find anyone here
who knows the answer to this question. I think it would be best to contact
Microsoft support, but if you really want to ask in a peer-to-peer newsgroup,
then office.setup will be your best bet.
