I just purchused a new computer with windows xp, will office 98 work

There is no Office 98. The two closest versions was Office 97 and
Office 2000. Both of these other versions will work.

Office 98 is a Mac version of Office so you would need a Mac to use
it.

Yes there is office 98, it is for Apple computers.
And if you send me $200 I can send you the converter to
install it on a Windows based OS.
