Office2003 (setup.ini)

Steven Adams

I am trying to add the Office 2003 update (KB828041) to our compressed CD
image.

All the documentation references modifying setup.ini.

There is no setup.ini within the source folder. There area number of ini
files within a setup directory.

..\FILES\SETUP

SETUPACC.INI
SETUPEXL.INI
SETUPFPG.INI
SETUPINF.INI
SETUPOLK.INI
SETUPOLS.INI
SETUPONE.INI
SETUPPPT.INI
SETUPPRO.INI
SETUPPUB.INI
SETUPSTD.INI
SETUPSTP.INI
SETUPWRD.INI

Does the following process sound right ?

setup file (setupuppro.exe),

Modify setuppro.ini to included a chain section with the relevant
command,[ChainedInstall_1]
Move the modified ini file to the root of the source folder
Run the associated setup executable (setuppro.exe)

I am under the impression that the setuppro.exe by default will process
setuppro.ini. If not do I have to specify the ini file I want to run during
the install command.

Thanks for any info,

/Steve

Steve,

You are really close. You are correct that it is the setuppro.ini that goes
with setuppro.exe.

Same idea for setupstd.exe; it would use setupstd.ini.

However, you do NOT move it to the root; it stays in .\files\setup.

Here's the chained install section I am using:

[ChainedInstall_1]
TaskName=Microsoft Office 2003 Patches
Path=Patches\ohotfix.exe
TaskType=EXE
Reboot=0
CmdLine=

For this, I have a folder called Patches, and placed ohotfix there. Then,
place the MSP files in the same folder and ohotfix will take care of the
patching for you.
