Office2003 tools missing

Bob Schild

On the computer that I installed an Office2003 Pro From OfficeXP Pro the tools menu on the start menu shows:
Activate
Clip Organizer
Application Recovery
Shotcut Bar
Language Settings
Photo Editor
However, on the computer that I did a Full Office2003 Pro install only App recovery and Language settings appear.
Both installation were made using custom setup and selecteing Install Evrything to run from my computer.
How do I get the oter toos loaded on the FULL install machine?

Hi Bob,

MS Office Photo Editor and
MS Office Shortcut Bar
were both discontinued for Office 2003. They can be
installed/retained from your Office XP/2002 installation
Activate may not appear but is in the help menus of
the Office Apps.
For the MS Clip Organizer you may want to check in
Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control panel under
MS Office 2003 and see what the setting is for that feature.

If all is installed you should also be seeing
MS Office Document Imaging
MS Office Document Scanning
Picture Manager

and a couple of others.

I tried using Add/Remove and selected one by one each item
under the tools node, but only the same two items appear
in the start menu.

Did you do a FULL install on a clean machine? That's what
I did.

Hi Bob,

Yes, it was a full install on a new partition
using the 'custom install' choice.

The Office Tools Start Menu items are not all
under the 'Tools' area in Office setup.
For example, Clip Organizer is
under 'Office Shared Features'

When you're in the Maintenance Mode screen you
can select the top level 'sugar cube' and set
it to 'run all from my computer' and that should
pickup all the items in the set, but you can expand
the feature tree to double check that all of the
selections are showing as 'white'.

I tried that twice and still only have the two menu items.

Could you please look at the properties for each of the
items in the start menu tools and let me know what files
they are pointing to? Perhaps the programs are being
installed, but no shortcuts being created on the start
menu.
Thanks.
