Offline Plan

Have taken a plan offline. When attempting to Open plan to work offline, MS
Project is crashing everytime.

Only way I can access plan is to check it back in which mean its no longer
offline.
Any suggestions as to problem

Marc,
Using 2003.
I have been checking plan back in to get plan back.
Would really like to be able to open plan as offline to do work and then
save back online.

It is at the point of opening plan whilst offline it is crashing. Have
tried other plans and they are fine. Which is leading me to think soemone
wrong with plan itself?

gso,

It does indeed sound like there is something wrong with the project plan
itself rather than with the Project Professional application.

You might want to rebuild the binaries of the project on the database and
then see if it works. However, these steps also include saving the file
offline and online, so it might not work:
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/BinaryRebuild.htm

Eventually you will have to export the project plan to MPP or XML and
re-import it to Project Server using the Enterprise Import Wizard in Project
Professional.

Hope this helps...

Marc,

I have tried the binary rebuild and did not work but will look into the
export, re-import option.
Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks for your help.

gso,

Too bad the binary rebuild is not working. So the export and re-import might
be your only option...

Let us know...

Marc:

The binary rebuild is good therapy to apply after the XML export/import
surgical procedure. The save to XML format in the 2003 version introduces
significant bloat to the binary record. The binary rebuild removes the
bloat.

GSO:

What is the exact procedure you're using to save and open offline?
