Offsets on a print page

Well, I had such good luck with my last question,
I decided to try another issue with word :)

I am formatting a 7.5x9 manual (approximately).
When printing on a 8.5x11 sheet, the copy is
centered horizontally (equal margins to each side),
but not vertically. Instead, it is up at the top of the
printed page.

On my previous word processor, the default was
centered in all directions. I know that you could
do it by making the paper size larger than the
real paper size I am shooting for, but I like the
fact that I am editting the real, final paper size
as published.

I know that adjusting the margins is standard
in publishing, but the web sites that reference
that issue all seem to advocate using another,
expensive publishing program to fix the margins
before publishing.

The reason why it matters is I cut and bind my
own proof copies, and for that you must cut off
a minimum amount of the edge (1 cm or better)
as part of the perfect binding process.

Thanks,

Scott

In your situation, I believe you will have to increase the top margin.

Well, thank you for the answer in any case. The solution
I found was to output in .pdf, then print from there. It works
because the Adobe program prints centered on all sides.

Its an obscure thing to want to do, its mainly for publish/
prepress.
