I am trying to install microsoft office 2000 and keep
getting the error message internal error 1311. I can't
find that error message at support. Any suggestions?

I have been missing a file known as OFICE1.CAB.

Could there be a connection and how can I find out?

try to copy the setup diisk's whole contents (including the hidden file
office1.cab) to your harddriive, remove the hidden attribute from that file,
and try running setup from there.
