I have a client that had a OL2002 .pst file that was getting to be upwards of
1.7Gb in size. I archived his file from June of 04 back. This created an
archive file that was 1.9Gb in size (!) and his default file still remained
the same size. I compacted his default .pst file and it only reduced it to
1.6Gb in size. I am trying to reduce the new archive file which opens VERY
slowly, but when I try clicking the compact button (yes, after selecting the
appropriate archive file on the previous screen), it flashes "compacting...."
on the screen for about 3 seconds and that's it! It hasn't compacted in the
background either because we haven't left it open to do this.
I have also noticed that not all of the appropraitely dated e-mails were
archived to this file, many were left behind in his default .pst file. He is
not a happy camper.....
any help is appreciated!
