I recently upgraded from OL2000 to OL2003. During the upgrade, I seem
to have inheireted a number of issues. So, I created a new profile and
am in the process of changing my great many settings back to where I
want them. (I'd use the Save Office Settings applet, but I don't trust
it to work with the newest version. Typical MS will make something foul
up between versions WITHOUT warning the user adequately ahead of time)
But I digress.
Annoying new feature #1 is the Reading Pane. Apparently it is turned on
by default. I have a lot of folders organizing my email and other
content and it's more than a little timeconsuming to have to go into
every folder and reset it. Is there no global control? Can't find
one...
Annoying new feature #2; The new Views menu, Arrange By submenu, "Show
inGroups" setting. I don't care for it and I would like it to be off.
Like #1 above, it's on by default for every folder with no
global/default reset available?
I'm about to try to write some keyboard macro to facilitate going into
each subfolder, invoking the view menu, waiting for Oultook to get
around to rendering the folder content (for the first time... I
understand a delay, but still... it's annooying), changing the setting,
wait an instant more and then go to next View setting to be changed.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Annoyance #3; I use "By Category" for my Contacts as my 'default' view.
(Actually, I have a custom view based on By Category...) When I move in
and out Contacts it seems to EXPAND all of the groupings. I have to
tell it to Collapse All Groups.
*sigh*
Any help? Thanks in advance!
