OLAP Cube Build problems

Bill Mc

Running Project Server 2007 and SQL Server 2005 on the same machine. I've
followed most of the suggestions posted here involving installation of SQl
Server 2005 Backward Compatibility, copying the msmdrep.mdb from AS2000 into
the c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\OLAP\DS09 folder and
setting the DSO settings as directed in Analysis Server properties.

The error I get when I run the cube build is as follows:
[5/17/2007 1:50 PM] Analysis Services session started
[5/17/2007 1:50 PM] Analysis Services session failed with the following
error: Failed to connect to the Analysis Services server PSERVER07. Error: A
connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running.

Now, I'm the first to admit that I'm just a PM and not a SQL Server DBA.
Furthermore, we don't have a SQL Server DBA here so I'm really limited in my
knowledge of what I'm trying to do. I haven't seen this particular error
message posted before so I'm hoping that I'm just missing something really
simple.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

I am getting something similar because of a dts rebuild dimenssions task. I
really think there is a hard to detect/resolve issue with olap+dts.

I would really like to know how you solved this, since it might be somehow
related to my situation.
