OLAP cube won't update

S

Skip

The OLAP cube was last built on 9/16. Now it won't
rebuild manually or periodically. When I hit the manual
button I get a dialog box that sounds like it is working.
I hit OK. But when I logout and come back in the message
still still says it was last built on 9/16 and I can see
the data isn't updated. Where do I start looking for
clues to solve this problem?

If it was working and suddenly stopped, the first place to look is at the
OLAP administrator account used in Com+. Make sure the account hasn't become
locked out or the password hasn't expired. These are common causes.

Hi Skip,

If you are still experiencing problems after reviewing the KB article Gary
recommended, here are some more ideas for you to try:

1) If the OLAP Server is on a different computer than the one Project Server
is on, make sure you install the latest version of MDAC on both computers
(one might have been updated while the other wasn't).
2) If the OLAP Server is on a different computer than the one Porject Server
is on, make sure you install the latest SQL Service Pack on both computers
(even if SQL Server is not on one of them because OLAP Services and SQL
Server Services must be all be at the same SP level).
3) It is possible that the server is 'stuck' and is not updating the process
for another reason. Although I could get into the ins-and-outs of manually
starting the process again, the easiest way to do this is to just re-boot
the OLAP and Project Server.
