I am using project 2003. In my PWA -> Manage enterprise features. I am
getting the following message

Current Cube Status

The cube building process was initiated on 7/10/2007 at 9:59 AM

Its the same since a week. I feel there might be some problem. Could anyone
help me as to which file should I check for the error messages or which log
file to look into and its location?

Or can anyone tell me what might be the problem?

The error is as given below:

Girija:

This typically indicates that the build request isn't going through to the
server. I'd check the status of the account you're using in COM+ for your
OLAPAdmin account. Maybe the password changed or the account became
disabled.

I agree that you should verify the account that you set up as the COM+
OLAP Admin account. You can reset it using the PSCOMPLUS.EXE tool in
Program Files/Microsoft Project Server/BIN

Another possibility is an issue in which the Views Notification
Service leaks memory and starts to fail in processing jobs.
On the Project Server, use task monitor to show all processes. If the
VWNOTIFY process is taking up more than 200 or 250 MB of RAM when
idle, you may want to consider restarting it.

Make sure that you restart it when it is idle and the Microsoft
Project Server/ViewDrop folder is empty to avoid causing any problems
with project publishes. Use the Services Control Panel to restart the
"Project Views Notification Service." You will see its RAM usage
return to 8MB or so.

On a busy project server we may end up restarting this process every
couple of weeks.

After the reset, the next cube build should succeed.

Hi James,

Since the Viewdrop folder was empty. I restarted the OLAP cube and still I
dont find any change. The password too hasnt changed.

Now should I use PSCOMPLUS.EXE tool? If so does it impact any of the data ?
Also How do I use it?

Thanks

The PSComPlus tool lets you reset the identity and password that
Project Server 2003 uses to connect to WSS or OLAP. Start the tool,
and it's use should be self-explanatory. It does not alter data at
all, it only allows you to enter new credentials.

Using this tool will not hurt and might let you know if you have a
user account problem.
