Old correspondance date changes, Word 2002

When I bring up an old correspondance, my Word changes the
date that I made the letter to todays date. How can I keep
the date that the letter was made on the correspondance.

Hi Bob,

Right-click the date, toggle field codes, change the first word in the
field code (DATE or TIME) to CREATEDATE, press F9 to update the field.

In the future, when you insert the date in a document and you want it
to stay unchanging, either insert a CREATEDATE field to begin with, or
use the Insert > Date dialog and uncheck the option for "automatically
update".
